Gold Prices Dip, American Eagle Bullion Coins Unchanged

by Bullion Prices Staff on October 11, 2011

U.S. gold prices dipped modestly Tuesday. December gold futures fell $9.80, or 0.6%, to $1,661 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. They metal traded between $1,655.40 an ounce and $1,686.70 an ounce. Investors were in a holding pattern for the day awaiting word on whether Slovakian would approve Europe’s rescue fund, opined analysts.

"A plan to end Europe’s debt crisis is bearish for gold, however until investors believe whatever plan they have is going to work, gold will be supported," Wang Xiaoli, chief investment strategist at Citic Futures Co., said in an e-mail Tuesday that was cited on Bloomberg.

In other New York futures, December silver prices added 1.8 cents, or 0.1%, to $32 an ounce, December palladium declined $10, or 1.6%, to $604.30 an ounce and January platinum prices declined $6.30, or 0.4%, to $1,518.80 an ounce.
