Gold Prices Rise, US Bullion Up and Silver Dollars Coming

by Bullion Prices Staff on February 15, 2012

Gold prices rose Wednesday to snap a three-day losing streak. One factor proffered for gains in gold was China’s central bank saying it would continue to buy euro area debt.

"For China to make a commitment like that is enough to give gold the psychological boost and to…increase the potential for inflating commodities and precious metals prices," Reuters quoted Jeffrey Sica, chief investment officer of SICA Wealth Management with more than $1 billion in assets.

Gold prices added $10.40, or 0.6%, to $1,728.10 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, trading from $1,720.30 an ounce to $1,739.20 an ounce.

Silver climbed the least of the precious metals that rose Wednesday. March silver futures prices added 6 cents, or 0.2%, to $33.41 an ounce.

PGM metals split as March palladium futures prices declined $3.60, or 0.5%, to $683.65 an ounce but April platinum futures prices added $10.20, or 0.6%, to $1,638.20 an ounce.
