After three straight session loses, gold prices rose Wednesday. December gold futures added $17.80, or 1%, to $1,729.60 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold traded between $1,715.50 an ounce and $1,745.60 an ounce.
"Comex December gold futures ended the U.S. day session with moderate gains Wednesday," wrote Jim Wyckoff of Kitco News. "Traders and investors once again stepped in to ‘buy the dip’ following some selling pressure earlier this week. Safe-haven buying interest was also featured Wednesday amid the latest developments in the ongoing EU debt crisis. The FOMC results failed to significantly impact the precious metals."
